He took over as ruler 10 years later.

Tiberius was a miserable bloke who never really wanted to be an emperor. Pliny the Elder described his as, ‘the gloomiest of men’.

He left Rome in 26 AD, handing the bulk of his administrative duties to his mate, Sejanus.
